I know, I'm literally half a month late for my Obligatory New Year's Post but I've been super busy these past weeks. It's still January so it still counts, right? And this will be a quick post! Anyway, I've already posted a short summary of my 2018, and it's on my Instagram. But for the sake of posting and in the spirit of sharing, here it is:

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I think it's only normal that I'm one of those people extremely excited and looking forward to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Since it came out this November 16 though, the second installment of five films in JK Rowling's expanded Wizarding World prequel series has gotten quite the backlash. So I will try to even out the playing field and point out both good and bad points from the movie (not all films are perfect) and will try to breakdown the questions that left fans bewildered and shook at the end of the film.

I don't know about you, but I am a complete sucker for Christmas movies. Or, at least, movies that are set during the Christmas/holiday season - especially if it's a romantic comedy of some sorts - which is usually the case. Case in point: Serendipity. But I'll save that for another post! Right now, I'd like to compare two of Netflix's holiday offers.

"The darkest part of the night is just before sunrise." This is one of the quotes my dad tells me very often, especially during my down times. The reason I haven't been posting these past months is - aside from being busy with work - because I have been dealing with perhaps the greatest loss of my life so far.

I haven't written anything here in over a month, yikes. I've really been busy with work and my spare time was mostly spent resting. Though my job now isn't as exhausting as the ones before, emotionally and mentally at least, it still requires physical energy, especially since I have more responsibilities now.

Before anything else, this post is not in any way sponsored by said hotel. :-)

Over the weekend, I enjoyed a little staycation with my boyfriend at Escala Tagaytay. It was his birthday week and we decided to celebrate it differently this year and a staycation would be the best way.

In light of recent events, mental illness has once again become the talk of the town; but for how long? And up to what extent do we talk about it? I'd just like to share my personal take on this issue and hopefully, as my thoughts are quite scattered right now, I could somehow give a perspective to this from someone battling the same thing.

Fun, exciting and unexpected. Three words sum up my review on Lucas Film and Disney's latest installment. Forget what the haters say -- Solo: A Star Wars Story was a film that achieved more than it was expected to.

Okay folks, I know that it's been over a month since Avengers: Infinity War came out and it's been a mortal crime to leak any spoilers during those times -- I myself have been a victim of those who are so butthurt (and irresponsible) in avoiding spoilers. I mean come on, you don't want to get spoiled so don't go on social media! It's not rocket science? I was able to manage to stay off social media for three days since the premiere and I dodged spoilers like a bullet.

But that's not why I'm writing this post! I'm specifically writing this to, hmm celebrate? No, more like to question the Russos and Marvel as to why they hurt us this way yet we, ever-loyal fans, still beg for it. This is going to be lengthy but I'll try my best to keep it simple (I invested so much emotion -- and money!! -- towards this damn movie okay)

Just a short personal post for you all before anything else. (Yes I know I need to update my pop culture tag) I wanted to write a little something about facing your fears as it has been an achievement on my part and I felt like sharing it.

WOW. It has been over two months since I last posted anything here. I promise I haven't forgotten about it. A lot of things have happened in the recent months; March and April have been extremely eventful, both good and bad.

It's been a while since I wrote about my food trips so here we goes a quick review about Melt Grilled Cheesery. It was my first time here and it was actually pretty timely because I've been craving for something close to comfort food due to stress the entire week, and yep, my cravings were definitely satisfied!

It's been nearly a month since the phenomenon Black Panther came out in theaters and well it's about time I'd write a little something about it. If you haven't seen it by this point, which I honestly doubt, then stop reading. I promise it won't be spoiler-free at all because I'll be gushing about how and why this movie literally crushed the box office.

I have two cases-in-point to answer that: two little films called A Walk to Remember and Letters to Juliet. You probably have heard of them, maybe even seen them (perhaps a hundred times, like me?) Yes, these are my two favorite romance films ever. Not classic drama love stories like Titanic or The Notebook, though I love those as well. There's just something about these two particular movies that tugs my heartstrings every time I watch them; I hope I can point it out in this post.

One of my greatest frustrations in life is that I was not able to hone the artist in me. My dad was a passionate artist when he was younger; he used to paint and sketch very well. I'm not sure why he stopped though. Anyway, I think I got this whole thing from him. The thing is, I'm not very good with hand art. When I was second year high school, I discovered the magic that is Photoshop and self-taught myself. Until now, several years later, I still use the program whenever I feel an itch of creativity.

       A day after I saw
The Greatest Showman in theaters, someone asked me how the film was because I shared a clip of the This Is Me scene on Facebook. I only gave him one answer: 11/10. Two days later, he goes to see the film himself and understood why I gave it that rating.

Hello! I'd like to dedicate my first post for the year to this little series I fell absolutely in love with. As a history geek, The Crown easily captured my interest. And as I continued watching episode after episode, the reasons as to why it's now my favorite series ever just piled up. There are already so many other posts as to why Netflix's The Crown is a must-watch but I'll try to add to that.

If there was anything I would say about this year, it's that 2017 was one of the most memorable years in recent memory - given that I haven't been having the best years before this one. To put it simply, this year was memorable because it was the the year I had a lot of firsts.

December 27, 2016, Philippine time. I was lying down in bed that morning scrolling through Facebook because I was on Christmas break thus enjoying the holidays and just lounging around. One of my friends tagged me in this post that went something like "Carrie Fisher rushed to LA hospital due to heart attack". I thought it was a hoax. And then another two or three friends tagged me in similar posts. No, no, no. This isn't happening, I said.

Then before the day ended, CNN broke the news we were all afraid to hear. She was 60, and just appeared as a CGI-d version of her younger self in Rogue One a few days before. Oh and it was also just a few days after she released her latest (and last) book, The Princess Diarist, in which she dropped the biggest secret of her life ever. Imagine, the last thing she did was tell the whole world that she slept with Harrison Ford.

Hello! It's the most wonderful time of the year! I'd just like to pass by to drop a personal little Christmas message and some realizations about the season as I get older. It will be short, I promise!
